Meet Sandy, our new tennis pro!

I am very excited to be joining Chestnut Oats as your new tennis pro!  I have a lot of exciting plans for this summer and hope that you will all come out and join the fun.

Throughout my undergrad years at UVA I played on the women’s club team.  We played against many other colleges on the East coast, as well as several Varsity teams.  During the summers I was the assistant tennis pro at a swim and racquet club in Northern Virginia, where I helped coach a team of 130 kids.  After graduating in May 2004, I spent one more summer outside teaching tennis before I had to give it up for a “real” job.  I was a consultant for two years when I decided to go after my dream of being a high school Spanish teacher.  I returned to UVA to get my Masters in Teaching, which I just received this past December.  I am currently teaching Spanish 1 and 2 at Cosby High School in Chesterfield County.

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to spend my summer outside teaching tennis again!  This summer I will be offering clinics for all ages – tiny tots (ages 3 – 6), beginner, intermediate, and advanced classes for ages 7 & up (separated by age level), as well as beginner and intermediate adults.  Additionally, I will be offering 3 camps which will begin in mid July.  Lastly, we have the Bantam (12 & under) and Intermediate (16 & under) junior teams for both boys and girls.  Information on all these tennis opportunities will be posted on the Tennis Board.  I am also available for private and group lessons.  I highly encourage you to sign up for any of the above.  I hope to see you all out on the courts!
